In 1781, Mozart leaves behind his life in Salzburg, a time when the composer suffered the oppression of his patron, the Archbishop Colloredo, and heads to Vienna. There he finds the opportunity to compose and interpret as freelancer and, in the following year of his arrival, he marries his beloved Constanza Weber. It is during this happy period of his life that he composes his Nocturnal Serenades. Besides his divertimenti and cassations, the serenade was written as an instrumental musical genre aimed to be played outdoors, in festive celebrations. The Serenade K.388 for wind instruments is of an introspective nature, contrasting with the Serenade K. 525, one of his most famous works, which is characterized by its joviality and freshness.
